Linda Allen

About Simply Norwegian and Linda

Following many years of teaching Norwegian in the North East, in 2009 Linda Skughei Allen came up with the idea of setting up her own small language school. She has never looked back since.

Linda is a qualified primary school teacher from a Norwegian teaching training college in Norway, with language teaching as her area of interest.

Soon after relocating to the UK she was offered her first Norwegian language teaching contract back in 1997, teaching staff at Lumley Castle in Durham.

"This was such a fun way to get into doing language courses in the UK. The employees at Lumley were so friendly and made me feel incredibly welcome. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with them."

Since then, she has delivered Norwegian courses regularly at Gosforth Community Education Centre, as well as working with private companies that interact with Norwegian speaking colleagues and clients. In later years, Linda completed an MA in TESOL, at Newcastle University.

Linda is an active member of the Norwegian community in the North East of England. She has previously been involved in running a Saturday School for children from British-Norwegian families and hosts Norwegian Coffee mornings to keep in touch with other Norwegian nationals who live in the North East.

Testimonial
I spent two years with an amazing, dedicated and friendly teacher - Linda Skughei Allen. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Mrs Allen, who was of great help in making me pass my Norskprøve 3.
